We have used many varied forms of paving to construct not just paths but also patios, flights of steps, and decorative stepping stone pathways (perhaps edged with fragrant thyme). We frequently work with natural stone – such as sandstone or granite – for its beauty and its elegant aged quality but are equally at home with the many modern reconstituted alternatives. Other options for paving include cobbles, formed setts or bricks. Materials are chosen and sourced according to functionality (such as level of traffic or need for a non-slip surface) as well as aesthetics (to tie-in with a planting scheme perhaps or to visually carry through the appearances of floors within the house). Whatever the scale of paving required, we apply the same quality build principles to ensure structural strength and longevity.
